Michael’s Funeral Livestream
Michael Ray Langston, 63, of Plainview passed away on March 19, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Abundant Life (405 S. Broadway, in the Parkview Baptist Church building) with Pastor Brad Snellgrove officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone. Michael was born on August 2, 1960 in Hale Center, TX to parents Donald and Delia Langston. Michael and his younger brother Jeff grew up in Tulia and Dumas, TX helping on the family farm before the family moved to Plainview in the late 1970’s. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1979 and began his own family. Michael became a jack-of-all trades and held jobs in farming, machine shop work, oilfield work, water pump service, over the road truck driver, farm equipment/dairy product delivery, and the last 20 years of his life he was a proud employee for the Texas Department of Transportation as a maintenance technician. He retired from TXDOT in December of 2023 and he counted his fellow co-workers as some of his closest and dearest friends. Michael married the love of his life, Laura Jordan on August 16, 2003 in Plainview, TX after meeting her at Parkview Baptist Church and they established a new blended family with their 8 children. Over the years, Michael and Laura opened their home and their hearts to other kids that needed shelter and a family to call their own. As far as he was concerned, they were his children too. Michael was an active PHS Band Booster and for 9 years he worked countless hours on props, at football games and marching competitions. Those friendships and memories that were made were some of his greatest treasures. The 22 grandchildren soon followed, and their Grandad became their best friend and partner in crime. He was always up for a sleepover and trip to Braum’s for a burger and an ice cream treat followed by a game of marbles or a Nerf-gun fight in the living room. Michael was an avid NASCAR fan and never missed a race so he could cheer on his favorite drivers. He loved the mountains and the cool, crisp mountain air and many family trips were made to the Red River, NM area. He loved to spend time in his barn and workshop just “tinkering” on one project or another with his favorite 80’s rock-and-roll music blaring from his Bluetooth speakers. Michael was able to indulge his passion for motorcycles when he purchased his beloved Harley-Davidson and enjoyed the open road trips with his boys, brother and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Delia Langston, and one granddaughter, Addisyn Rae. He is survived by his wife, Laura of Plainview, and five daughters; Cheree Langston of Abilene, Teana Ross of Plainview, Randee Langston of Lubbock, Ashley Walls and husband Garrett of Plainview, Kaylyn Rodriguez and fiancé Eli Holguin of Plainview and three sons; Steven Langston and partner Madison Manning of Lubbock, Russell (Bubba) Langston and wife Caity of Lubbock, and Colton Langston of Norfolk, VA. One brother, Jeffrey Langston of Amarillo. 22 grandchildren with one on the way and 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way. The family suggests memorials to: Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st St., Lubbock, Texas 79410.
