Ophelia Maria Garcia (Tulia)

Ophelia Maria Garica, 88, of Tulia, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Services are pending at this time. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Ophelia was born in Knickerbocker, Texas, to her cherished parents Benjamin D. and Maria Luisa (Medina) Luera. She proudly graduated from Tulia High School before venturing to Amarillo to pursue her passion for beauty, becoming a skilled cosmetologist.

Ophelia shared a loving bond with her husband, Alfredo T. Garcia Sr., whom she married on December 30, 1961, in Tulia. Together, they faced life’s challenges side by side, including the demanding harvest seasons where Ophelia often lent her support as a truck driver. Her resilience and commitment to family highlighted her nurturing nature, as she later retired from the trucking industry to embrace her role as a devoted housewife.

An exceptional seamstress, Ophelia had an artistic flair that extended beyond fabric; she found joy in painting her beloved statues and cultivating her flowers with a remarkable green thumb. Her home was a testament to her creativity and love for beauty, offering a warm welcome to family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Maria Luisa Luera; two daughters, Delia Garcia and DeAnn Garcia; two sons, Alfredo Garcia, Jr. and Randolph Garcia; her brothers and sisters, Manuel Luera, Roberto Luera, Benjamin Luera, Jr., Guadalupe Luera, Amelia Suiter and Maria Ontiveros.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie Moreno and husband Sesar; her sister, Micaela Ramirez; five grandchildren, De’Ann Garcia, Emely Lopez, Hadrian Rodriguez, Dakota Shane Garcia and Brady Garcia; and three great grandchildren.
