She was born on April 13, 1937, in Wheeler, Texas, to Coy Murphey and Louise (Hale) Ast. Patsy’s early years were spent traveling with her father, a dedicated construction worker, until she settled in Shamrock for her last two years of high school. She proudly graduated from Shamrock High School in 1955. On December 23, 1956, Patsy married David Clark, and together they created a loving home in Amarillo before relocating to Tulia in 1972. Throughout her career, Patsy worked for Baldwin Rucker CPA and later made her mark at Mid Plains Telephone Corporate, where she rose to the position of office manager before retiring. Patsy was a vibrant community member and found joy in various hobbies after her retirement, including participating in the Tulia Bowling League, where she traveled throughout the country to showcase her skill and passion for the sport. A devoted grandmother, she cherished her time with her grandchildren and took great pride in her porcelain doll collection. Her indomitable spirit was encapsulated in her favorite phrase, “Patsy can do it,” which reflected her strong-willed and independent nature.
