Patsy Griffith Memorial Service Livestream

Patsy “Pat” LaNeil Ashton-Griffith, age 81, passed away on August 11, 2022, in Grapevine, Texas.  Patsy passed away from natural causes at Dancing River Assisted Living Facility. Services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately in the Lockney, Texas cemetery in the Griffith family plot.

Pat was born to Opal and James “Milton” Ashton on October 31, 1940, in Medina County Hospital in Hondo, Texas. She grew up in Lockney, Texas, and attended Lockney High School, where she was a Majorette/twirler for the Longhorns. She graduated from high school in 1959.  After graduation, she attended college at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, where she graduated with a degree in Physical Education. While attending West Texas State University, Pat began dating one of her Lockney classmates, Duane Griffith, who was attending Texas Tech University. They married on May 29, 1963, in Roswell, New Mexico. Afterward, Duane and Patsy moved to Plainview, where Duane began a 40-year career with Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed. Pat began her teaching career at Plainview ISD in 1977, teaching health at Plainview High School. She retired in 2002 after being the sixth-grade art teacher at Ash Middle School for nineteen years.

Pat was very talented and had many gifts. She was a seamstress who made much of her own and her girls’ clothing. When her girls had homes of their own, she created amazing curtains for their windows that added warmth and beauty. She was a talented artist, as evident by her drawings and art projects. She loved to draw and share her skills with her grandchildren. She kept many of their drawings made together as keepsakes. Her passion for music was evident in the large collection of downloaded music in her library. She continued to share her early memories of her love for all kinds of music as she recently wrote, “I LOVE MUSIC. It’s in my DNA.” Her favorite artist naturally was Elvis Presley, evidenced by the memorabilia she collected over the years.  After retirement, Pat caught a genealogy bug. She worked tirelessly for years researching and documenting not only her family history but the Griffith history as well. She was also an avid collector of home décor.  Some of her favorite collections included angels, saints, crosses, teapots, succulents, and birds.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Danny Glenn of Plainview, TX, and Kristi and Dan Quick of Colleyville, TX. Two grandsons, Travis Glenn of The Woodlands, TX and Tyler Glenn of Twin Peaks, CA; two granddaughters, Averi and Kaitlin Quick of Colleyville, TX. Also, close cousins, dear nieces and nephews, and friends who have journeyed with her through life.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Milton and Opal Ashton, her husband Victor “Duane” Griffith, two children, Dane and Amy, who died at birth, and two sisters, Karen Kidd and Annell Wagner.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who showed her endless love while she lived at Dancing River. Also, thanks to the special team at Care Hospice.  She was surrounded by their love in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to one of the following:
