Patti Marie Snipes, 86, of Hale Center passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 7, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at May Cemetery in May, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview and officiated by Patti's brother-in-law, Benny Mayo. A visitation will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 from 9:30 A.M. to service time and immediately after the service at First Baptist Church in Hale Center, Texas. Patti Marie Snipes was born July 5, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Howard Norton and Mary Eugenia (DeBardeleben) Steward. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Howard Payne College in 1956. While attending she met the love of her life, Weyland Worth Snipes, and they were quite the campus personalities. She won the Sadie Hawkins race and picked Weyland as her prize. They were married July 12, 1956 in Dallas, Texas and enjoyed 63 years of marriage rearing three children. Her teaching career lasted 43 years influencing thousands of children in and outside the classroom. She taught Kindergarten through 6th grade from Mountain Air and Bloomfield, NM to Fort Worth, McCamey, Red Oak, White Deer, and Hale Center, Texas. In addition to regular classes, she taught Gifted & Talented and Migrant classes, the humor in that is she did not speak Spanish but with the help of her aid Alma they had a successful year. In later years, Weyland and Patti enjoyed their six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He taught the boys all about camping and the outdoors while She taught the girls dress-up, tea parties, and art projects. Patti even taught all the grands and one great-grand how to read, always using her teaching experience. Patti was quoted in her college newspaper as saying her greatest ambition is to be useful to everyone she came in contact with. She certainly fulfilled that dream. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Barbara Smith and a daughter, Traci Boston. She is survived by her son, Scott Snipes and Karen of Plainview, her daughter, Carol Kleiber of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Brandon Cooley and Kelly, Grath Cooley and Becky, Karlee Kleiber and Jordan, Katee Kleiber, Channing Snipes and Jason Miller, Colby Snipes and Tucker; five great grandchildren, Logan and Raelyn Cooley, Will Snipes, and Audrey Miller with little sister on the way and Elijah Kleiber Clark.
