Paula "Chita" Silbaz Sosa (Tulia)

Paula “Chita” Silbaz Sosa, 81, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Happy, Texas with Father Alvin Tshuma officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A viewing will begin at 1:00 to 6:30 PM Thursday, July 17, 2025 in the Kornerstone Chapel and the rosary will be held at 6:30 Thursday, July 17, 2025 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel.

Paula was born on January 26, 1944 in Munday, Texas to Carlos and Cesaria (Perez) Silvaz. She was united in marriage to Leonel Sosa Sr. on July 4, 1962, in Tulia, Texas, and together they shared an extraordinary journey for 63 wonderful years.

Her dedication and passion shone brightly during her 22 years of service at Happy ISD, where she made a lasting impact on her community. A true embodiment of nurturing spirit, she possessed a Green Thumb that flourished in her beloved garden, lovingly planting and canning her vegetables.

As a devoted member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy, Texas, her faith was a guiding light in her life. In her free time, she found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it was playing solitaire, watching her favorite Novelas, crocheting beautiful blankets, or cooking delightful meals that would spoil her children.

She cherished her conversations with her best friend Maggie, finding comfort and companionship in their talks.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Cesaria Silvaz; her son, Leonel Sosa Jr. I, twin infants; her siblings, Lucia Armendariz, Pedro Silvaz and Petra Soto.

She is survived by her husband, Leonel Sosa, Sr., her children, Mary Ann Sosa and wife Martina, Francis Farfan and husband Javier, Lionel Sosa, Jr. and wife Sheila, Betty Sosa and husband Van, Jesse Sosa and wife Rachelle, Susana Garza, Carlos Sosa and wife Tanya and Paul Sosa; her siblings, Pablo Silvaz, Romana Loya, Felix Silvaz, Carlos Silvaz, Jr. and Martin Montoya; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
