Pedro “Pete” Palacios Garza, 80 of Slaton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Pedro was born on September 17, 1945 in Edinburg, Texas to late Carlos and Dolores Garza.

Pedro was a man defined by his strong hands and steady patience, and unwavering integrity.

For over 55 years, Pedro worked as a master general contractor and proud owner of Pete Garza construction. He didn’t just build and remodel homes he built, the foundations of our community and creating a safe warm spaces for families and mentoring dozens of young trades people who walked onto his job sites.

Pedro was a dedicated family man and a true fixer of all things. He taught his children, the value of an honest days work, how to fix anything that was broken and the importance of showing up for people when they needed a hand. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughters.

Pedro is survived by his two daughters, Irma Garza of Slaton and Norma Garza of Lubbock and his two cherished grandchildren Eliana Leyva and Elijah Garza and his two great granddaughters Mialani Mojica and Analeah Leyva; two brothers Felix Garza of Pharr, Texas and Miguel Garza of Mission Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and six sisters, Juanita Garza, Felicitas Leyva, Carolina Amaya, Margarita Garza, Eusevia Castro and Elvira Garza.
