Richard Lee Grisham (Plainview)

Richard Grisham went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Richard Lee Grisham was born on October 17, 1948, in Plainview, Texas to JC (Jim) and Reva Lou Grisham of Edmonson, Texas. He grew up in Edmonson and accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of nine and was called into ministry at 11 years old.

He graduated from Plainview High School in 1967 and in 1970 graduated Wayland Baptist University, where he met his wife Velma Lou Evans of Muleshoe, TX. They married on Friday, June 13, 1969 in Muleshoe. Richard graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1973. Over the course of his 42 years of ministry, Richard pastored six churches (Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Springdale, MO; Date Street Baptist Church, Plainview, TX; Bledsoe Baptist Church, Bledsoe, TX; First Baptist Church, Bovina, TX; Northside Baptist Church, Texas City, TX; and Bethel Baptist Church, Roswell, NM.

Richard loved the Lord, his family, and enjoyed sharing his faith through writing poems and songs. He leaves behind over 270 poems and binders of his sermon notes throughout the years. While his family grieves, they also celebrating his healing and know that Richard is reunited with his father and mother JC and Reva Lou, brother Dale Grisham, and sister Lana Watson.

He is survived by his wife Velma (Hurst, TX); Son James Grisham (Coppell, TX); Son Jay Grisham and grandchildren Blessed and Braden (Hurst, TX); Daughter Julie Criscuola, husband Brian and grandchildren Maxton, Ethan, and Audrey (Watauga, TX); Sister Jeanine Oraivej and husband Naman (Corona, CA). Seventeen nieces and nephews.
