Robert Ray Gould (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Robert Ray Gould passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Olton, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Denis Milton officiating. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Robert was born on May 29, 1935, in Tulia, Texas at the Swisher County Hospital. Robert’s parents were Cecil L. Gould and Juanita Melton Gould. The attending physician was Dr. E.P. Stewart. Robert graduated from Tulia Public High School in 1953 and attended Wayland Baptist College until joining the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in the Korean War. Robert married Jo Veta Blankenchip in 1955 and farmed with his father-in-law, Roy Blankenchip until moving to Oklahoma in 1968 where he spent the next 30 years in agricultural aviation and wheat farming. After retiring, the couple moved back to the farm in Tulia, Texas. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Juanita Gould; his daughter, Jana Rene Funkhouser; his son, Paul Marcellus Gould and his sister, Linda Foster. He is survived by his wife, Jo Veta Gould; his son, Robert Bryan Gould and wife Andrea; his grandchildren, Morgan Tyler Gould, Daniel Ross Funkhouser, Erin Rene Funkhouser and Amy Beth Funkhouser, his great grandchildren; Alexander Gould, Aidan Nathaniel Gould, and Lucas Gould.
