Ronald Willis Brunson, 80, of Plainview passed away on May 26, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Plainview, Texas. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas.

Ronald Willis Brunson was a 6’4” cowboy turned preacher who loved Jesus and ministering to his friends and neighbors, especially those who were born to punch cows and rodeo. Ron was born on December 20, 1945, in Crosbyton, Texas to Willis and Nettie Ann (Moyers) Brunson. He graduated from Corona (NM) High School and received a civil engineering degree from Eastern New Mexico University, where he was on the rodeo team.

After graduation he worked as a civil engineer on projects such as the Texas Tech Law School Building among others, he then worked on ranches and did custom cattle branding in Texas, Kansas and New Mexico and followed the professional rodeo trail roping calves. Ron married the love of his life, Marianne Munz, on February 28, 1970, and they have been married for 56 years.

In 1977, Ron and Marianne gave their hearts to Jesus Christ soon realizing they had been called into the ministry to preach and they pastored New Covenant Church in Plainview, Tx for 36 years as well as several cowboy churches and ministries at rodeos, ropings, stock shows, dairies, conferences, and Christian cowboy camps, along the way. He also did mission work, preaching fluently in Spanish in Mexico and other Central and South American countries.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Marianne Brunson; son, Scott Stone (Cara) of Merkel, Tx (Carley (Kyle), Slade, Camryn); daughter Heather Mow Gutierrez (Junior) of Coahoma, Tx (Lani, Lilly); son, Blaine Brunson (Sonja) of Dripping Springs, Tx (Cade, Cash, Carson); daughter, D’Lynn Brown (Ty) of Salado, Tx (Reece, Mason); son, John Brunson (Katie) of Plainview, Tx (Saige (Jack), Kail); brother Allan (Debbie) of Stephenville, Tx; brother David (Brenda) of Artesia, NM; and Marianne’s sister Nancy Peirce Nash (Greg) of Clovis, NM. He also has five great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
