Ronnie McGowen, 71, passed away on December 11, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on November 26, 1952, in Amarillo, Texas, Ronnie was a cherished member of the Plainview community who touched the lives of many with his Texas sized heart and unwavering spirit. Ronnie grew up in Sunnyside and Dimmitt, where he developed a deep love for the land and a passion for agriculture. After completing his High School diploma in Dimmit, he pursued a career in farming, cultivating his skills and contributing to the thriving agricultural industry. Ronnie's dedication to his craft was unmatched, and he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He also worked for Hale County and did many other things throughout his life. Ronnie also loved to dance, sing, and go fishing. With a gentle and kind demeanor, Ronnie had a way of making those around him feel valued and appreciated. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. His dedication to his family extended beyond his immediate relatives, embracing a wide network of friends and acquaintances who considered him to be a true confidant. The legacy of Ronnie McGowen will be celebrated and remembered during the upcoming funeral services. A visitation will take place on December 15, 2023, at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, offering family, friends, and acquaintances an opportunity to bid their final farewells at Kornerstone. The funeral service will be held at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview on December 16, 2023, at 11:00 am, where loved ones will gather to honor and reflect on Ronnie's remarkable life. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Aulgia McGowen and a granddaughter, Heather Doran. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Darnell McGowen; brothers, Charlie, Tommy, Gaylen, and Danny McGowen; and a sister, Peggy Baca Those left to cherish the memory of Ronnie include his wife, Mary Ann McGowen of Lubbock; his children; Sherry Harris and husband Dale of Kress, Donnie Doran of Plainview, Rodney Doran and wife Shara of Plainview, Dale Doran and wife Christi of Levelland, Kevin Payne and wife Renee of Lubbock, Crystal Gilster and husband Brandon; grandchildren, Trey Holmes, Nicole Stark and husband Justin, Tana Holmes, Shawn Harris and wife Kelly, Dalton Doran and wife BreAnn, Kayla Winter and husband Christopher, Megan Hernandez and husband Frank, Hailey Carrion and husband Gerardo, Garrett Payne, Kendal Roberts and husband Nolan, Caleb Gilster and wife Sydnee, Josh Gilster, Jacob Gilster, Luke Gilster, Savannah Grace Gilster; great grandchildren, Ryan, Natalie, Kylee, Wyatt, Blake, Blaze, Kiana, Lane, Emily, Charlie, ReeCee, Mason, Daxton, Adilyn, Emery, Easton, Aspyn, Knox, Salem, Kynlee; siblings, Roy McGowen and wife Sharon of Midland, Jolene Boone and husband Melvin of South Carolina, and Carolyn Hastey and husband Steve of Plainview; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
