Roy Blane Hammett, age 89, of Tulia, Texas, passed away on November 14, 2025.
Roy was born on August 1, 1936, in Denton, Texas, to William Gillis Hammett and Berva Dovie Hammett. He proudly served in the United States Navy, carrying with him a spirit of independence and determination that would define his life. Roy was a man who lived his life on his own terms, guided by grit, humor, and an unwavering sense of who he was.
Roy met Susan while they were both working on the Alaskan pipeline. The two married on November 21, 1975, and shared nearly fifty years of devotion, adventure, and steadfast companionship.
Roy is survived by his wife, Susan; their three sons—Josh and wife Leslie, Jason and wife Lauren, and Jared and wife Leah; and their beloved grandchildren: Autumn Hammett, Lilly Hammett, Hudson Hammett, Maggie Hammett, Griffin Hammett, Bryce Hammett, and Meg Hammett. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Myla Stone and Granger Lewis, who brought him great joy in his later years.
Roy will be remembered for his independence, his quiet strength, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the generations who carry his spirit forward.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia, Texas.
