Royce was born on February 7, 1932 to Lawrence Ewing and Beatrice (Pierce) Crawford. Royce enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. After being discharged Royce came back to Tulia, where he met the love of his life Frances Jean at the City Drug Store. They went to Clovis, New Mexico and got married in the First Baptist Church by Pastor W.E. King.  He remodeled and constructed houses from scratch and later started his own contracting business called the Crawford and Lee Builders in Tulia. Royce had such a talent when building or putting any object together and one of his special times is when he built the Kenneth Wyatt Gallery for the Wyatt’s. He worked as a contractor for more than forty years who took care of his family and as his children would say “mom did all the praying and dad did all the paying”. He would build frames for Frances as she would paint her Paint by Number paintings. Royce had a compassionate heart when it came to the Veterans, in always being a heavy giver and donating. Royce will be remembered for his hard work and the legacy Royce and Frances made together in life and would quote “Do the best at doing at everything you can do and don’t wear out your welcome.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Beatrice Crawford, his daughter, Diane Jean Crawford, his brothers, and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Jean Crawford of Tulia, his two sons, Royce Clinton Crawford, Jr. of Lubbock and Rickie Crawford and wife Roxene of New Mexico, his sister-in-law, Flora Grace Crawford of Denison, TX., numerous grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
