Ryan Robert Garcia (Plainview)

Ryan Garcia, 51, passed away on July 1, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

Born on January 11, 1975, in Plainview, Texas, to Roberto and Elida Garcia, Ryan grew into a loving and loyal son and friend. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1993, where he played in the marching band and led it as president during his senior year. Even in high school, he found his way to the airwaves as a DJ at KKYN in Plainview. Music was a lifelong passion for Ryan, and away from the country station he loved artists like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and Metallica.

Ryan was also a lifelong poet, filling notebooks with thousands of poems over the years. He had a tender love for animals as well, with a special fondness for turtles and opossums that stayed with him throughout his life.

After high school, Ryan attended Texas A&M University before settling in Grand Prairie, where he worked as a security guard. He carried one dream with him since the second grade, to see the Painted Desert with his own eyes, and in December of 2023 he finally made that journey.

Ryan was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and is survived by his parents, Roberto and Elida Garcia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas, preceded by a visitation at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.
