With a fighting heart until the very end Sheila Tranniquila Brooks, 64, of Silverton Texas passed away on October 10, 2024. A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in Silverton on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
Sheila was born July 28, 1960 in Clarendon, TX to Gwan and Mary Alice Wilkinson. She graduated high school from Silverton ISD in Silverton, TX where she made her life-long residency. Sheila worked many years as a cook alongside her best friends at the Malt Shop, she had numerous odd jobs in between, and she then spent her final years of employment as a secretary at Silverton Oil where she really found her place and excelled at her job until her health caused an early retirement.
Sheila was always known as the life of party and NEVER met a stranger (often at the embarrassment to the rest of her family). If you have ever met Sheila, you without a doubt never forgot her. She was a fighter, opinionated, and hard-headed; Misty often joked that she was unsuccessfully trying to raise her mother. Sheila truly loved all people she met and made you feel like you had known her forever. Mimi, as she was known to Lucas and Bella, truly found her purpose in life the day she became a grandmother. She was an incredible Mimi that will leave a lasting impression in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Tanya Lynn Wilkinson, husband Ronnie Brooks, devoted friend and companion Larry Edwards, brother Durwood Wilkinson, and sister Judy Miller.
Survivors include her daughter Misty Holt and husband Lance of Silverton, TX; grandchildren Lucas and Bella Holt of Silverton, TX; brother Gwan Lane Wilkinson of Hedley, TX; sister-in-law Peggie Wilkinson of Sulphur Springs, TX; brother-in-law Steve Miller of Silverton, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Silverton Fire Department or Silverton EMS in honor of Sheila.
Sheila fought a long two-year battle with cancer and Misty would like to thank her village. Day after day people showed up for her and Sheila and made life manageable and easy for both of them in the last two years. Thank you will never be enough!
