Shirley Jean Thomas (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Shirley Jean Thomas, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023, in the First Baptist Church with Superintendent David Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Shirley was born January 21, 1938, in Howland, Texas. She graduated from Paris High School in 1956 and married the love of her life Jimmy Thomas, Sr. in September of 1956. They soon welcomed their first child Curtis. Then followed Flordie, Robert and J.J. Throughout the years the family moved to Turkey, TX to pursue a better life. They moved to Nazareth and eventually settled in Tulia. Shirley worked at the Swisher Memorial Hospital as a dietitian for many years until her retirement. She also cared for the elderly and worked for home health and was a homemaker. She was a long-life member of the Jackson Chapel Church of God in Christ. She is preceded in death by her mother, Flordie Reynolds, her husband, Jimmy Thomas, Sr. and a grandson, Jaymn Tripp Thomas. She is survived by her children, Curtis Thomas of Tulia, Flordie Hawthorne of Tulia, Robert Thomas of Abernathy and J.J.
