Thomas Edward Bench (Plainview)

Thomas Edward Bench passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, TX.

Thomas was born on October 9, 1953, to Billy Ray Bench and Lily Elizabeth Cargill Bench. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1972. He married Phyllis Hatfield on August 3, 1986, and they shared 40 wonderful years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Ray and Elizabeth Bench; his two sisters, Linda R. Wilson and Betty J. Shepard.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hatfield Bench; 3 sons, James E. Bench (Crystal) of Plainview, TX, Terence R. Kovar (Jamie) of Dickens, TX, Ernest L. Kovar (Nikki) of Liberty Hill, TX; 13 grandchildren, Ashley Galvan (Mikel), Chloe Bench of Oak Harbor, Washington, Wyatt Bench of San Diego, CA, Rowdey Kovar of Canyon, TX, Kash Kovar (Tori) of Lubbock, TX, Easton Kovar & Tenley Kovar of Liberty Hill, TX and Dylan Philpott, Garret Foerster of Dickens, TX, Calan Foerster of Lubbock, TX, and Gunner Foerster of Lubbock, TX; 4 great grandchildren, Peyton Galvan & Michael Galvan of Plainview, TX, Kylan Philpott and T.J. Philpott of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews.
