Thomas R. (Tom) Hall passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Plainview October 9, 1948 to Thomas Grady and Glenna Marie Hall. Hall graduated from Plainview High School in 1967 and from West Texas State University in Canyon in 1983 with a degree in mass communication and English.
Hall spent a total of 28 years in various capacities at Wayland Baptist University, with the final eleven years serving as Dean of Students. He was program and sports director at KKYN Radio for twelve years between his two stints at WBU. He and Brandy Haines co-hosted the Wake Up Kickin’ Morning Show during his tenure at KKYN. Tom also broadcasted Plainview High School football, basketball and baseball, as well as WBU athletics for a total of 47 years.
Tom coached the Plainview Senior Little Dribblers All-Stars to a National Championship in 1997. He coached the Lady Air AAU summer basketball team for 19 years and coached the PCA Lady Eagles basketball team for 4 years, as well as teaching Christian leadership and boys Bible classes at Plainview Christian.
Hall was Plainview Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2005 and was inducted into the Wayland Athletics Hall of Honor in 2007. Also in 2007, Hall and wife, Linda were honored as Centennial Circle of Honor recipients.
Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Hall; his daughter, Jenny Rosetta and son-in-law Randy; granddaughters, Mallory and Darby Rosetta of Lubbock, Texas; his brother, Dr. Bobby Hall and wife Laurie of Plainview; his sister, Carol Lawrence and husband Curtis of Canyon; his nephews, Lucas Hall of Farmers Branch, Jarrod Lawrence and wife Nicole, Aria, Hadley and Reid of Midland, Justin Lawrence of Amarillo; his niece, Alexis Hall of Farmers Branch and his grandpuppy Macie.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, John and Peggy Liles of Vernon.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Plainview where Tom was a lifelong member. A visitation will follow in the church parlor.
