Treavor Lane Akin (Plainview)

Treavor Akin, age 27, left this earth far too soon on June 29, 2022 after battling a long, undetected terminal illness. Funeral Services will be held at Rock City Church in Lubbock, Tx on Sunday, July 10th at 3 p.m.

Treavor was born on August 24, 1994 to Julie Barton Akin and Terry Akin in Lubbock, Texas. Treavor loved fishing with Grandpa Dale and adored his Meemaw Linda and granny BeBe  Akin. Skateboarding and Basketball were of his many passions. At a young age, he showed great promise. He published a short book, “Life Hurts” and a poem, “The Fire of Love,” by the time he was in the 4th grade. Graduating with honors from Lubbock High School made his family proud but his character shined brighter than his grades. He was always the first to help a student struggling to get down the stairs on crutches or be there for a friend in need. Treavor had a way of making others feel special, important, included, and loved. When he smiled and listened to you, your world got better just because he was there. Treavor was on the Deans list at South Plains College where he studied music. He was very creative, quoted Bob Marley and could touch your soul with his words when he played the guitar. He recorded songs on YouTube and posted music videos on Facebook expressing his deep, soulful thoughts about life. Treavor’s life should be an example to us all as he endured physical pain that most of us couldn’t bear for a moment, and still loved and cared for others. His strength was heroic in dealing with a terminal illness when doctors were unable to detect it. Growing close to God is the only way he got through some of the darkest times and now he has found peace and comfort in the garden of heaven where music fills the air. He will be deeply missed by so many people, especially his best friend and brother Josh.

Treavor is survived by his mother, Julie Barton, his father, Terry Akin and wife Debbie, his older brother, Josh and bonus brother Chad Prince and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was greeted in heaven by his beloved grandparents, Dale and Linda Barton and Donal Akin.
