Virginia R. Davis,77, of Tulia passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Todd Webber officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Virginia was born on June 24, 1948, in Palestine, Texas, to Liga Burton and Gladys Lucille Wilbanks. On August 7, 1963, Virginia married the love of her life, Charley Davis, in Palestine. In 1977, the couple moved to Tulia, Texas, where Virginia became a familiar and beloved presence in the community. She worked as a waitress and caregiver, touching the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Virginia's love for her family was evident in everything she did; she truly cherished the moments spent with her family and her grandchildren.
Virginia was an ardent fan of Elvis Presley and John Wayne, often spending her downtime indulging in their music and movies. She was affectionately known as the "bubble gum lady" for her joyful habit of handing out gum to children on Dallas Street after school, spreading smiles and sweetness wherever she went. In addition to her love for her family, Virginia had a special place in her heart for her fur babies, who brought her great joy.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Liga Burton and Gladys Wilbanks, her husband, Charley Davis; her son, Troy Dwayne Davis; her brother, Glenn Wayne Wilbanks; her sister, Gladys Maybell Douglass.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Davis of Tulia, James L. Davis and wife Jamie of Driftwood, TX., Charlie Davis, Jr. of Tulia, Sonya Ray and husband Michael of Plainview, and David L. Davis and wife Tabitha of Happy; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren on the way.
Memorials may be made to the Tulia Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 2, Tulia, Texas 79088.
