Wanda Jean Cowan (Plainview)

Wanda Jean Cowan, 86, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2024, in the chapel of Plainview Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Wilson officiating. Internment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

A visitation will be held 4-6 P.M. Sunday, September, 29, 2024, at the funeral home.

Wanda was born on June 28, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Lester J. & Florence (Roske) Griffin. At an early age she moved with her family to the Atascosa area of Texas. She graduated from South West High School in San Antonio, Texas. She was the valedictorian of her class. She married Sam Cowan, a Plainview native, on June 2, 1962, in Grapevine, Texas. Over the years they lived in Fort Worth, Texas, Jacksonville, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. They moved to Plainview in 1991. She was a member of Plainview Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James Griffin and Charles Griffin.

Wanda is survived by her husband Sam Cowan of Plainview, TX; one daughter, Donna Jean Rowe & husband Richard of Goodlettsville, TN; one son, David Randall Cowan & wife Michele of Trenton, TX and six grandchildren.

She liked to travel, play bridge and brag about her grandchildren.
