Wanda Flippin (Plainview)

Wanda Gene Flippin, 92, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, July 31, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Claytonville Baptist Church with Dr. Kelly Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Hart Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Home in Plainview on Friday, August 4 from 5-7 PM. Wanda was born in Hale County, Texas on November 4, 1930 to Morris and Ruth Nance. She attended school at Prairie View, Providence, and Plainview, graduating from Plainview High School in 1947. She married the love of her life, C.E. “Flip” Flippin on January 10, 1948 in Plainview. Flip and Wanda started their marriage in Hart, but soon moved to Providence where they farmed together. She was Flip’s right hand on the farm doing anything from driving tractors, trucks, and pulling cotton trailers. She was an expert at building cotton modules as well. Wanda and Flip raised a son, Ricky, and daughter, Cathy. Wanda was a faithful follower of Christ. She taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery at Claytonville First Baptist Church. She played the piano there for 60 years, having only recently retired after her 90th birthday. Wanda and Flip enjoyed bowling on Friday nights with their friends in Plainview and Tulia. They took their grandkids along on occasion, creating wonderful memories for them. She was fun-loving and always had a place at her table where she would share some cantaloupe and ice cream or something equally sweet and end every visit with “I love you a bushel and peck.” Wanda was preceded in death by her husband C.E. “Flip” Flippin, parents Morris and Ruth Nance, sisters Georgie Brandes and Barbara Peterson, and a great-grandson Caysen. She is survived by her children Ricky Flippin and wife Susan of Plainview, and Cathy Graham and husband H.G. of Lockney; 5 grandchildren, Ty Flippin and wife Brandi of Sanger, Rance Barnett and wife Rachel of Amarillo, Ron Flippin of Plainview, Amanda Day and husband Scott of Happy, and Kalli Martin and husband Bryan of Floydada; 10 great-grandchildren, Keegan, Abigail and husband Jacob, Jay and wife Jodie, Ryan, Hannah, Aden, Cameron, Gabe, Jace, and Mackenzie. The family would like to thank the staff of the Beehive in Floydada and Interim Hospice for their devotion and care of our “Mema”, She loved you all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Claytonville Baptist Church Treasures Larry or Deelane Buske Box 384 Kress, TX 79052
