Wanda Ruth Cross Leach was born March 12, 1936, in Sweetwater, Texas, to L.R. and Katherine Cross. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1951 and soon after married the love of her life, Joe Leach. Wanda and Joe lived and farmed northeast of Plainview. They shared seventy devoted years together before his passing in 2021.
Wanda’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She had a gift for creating a warm, welcoming home and found happiness in opening it to others. A talented cook, seamstress, artist, and knitter, she expressed her love through the things she made and the skills she generously shared. Wanda and Joe could often be found side by side at school events, faithfully supporting their children and grandchildren. They especially loved time together on the farm and at the lake, places filled with laughter, hard work, and cherished family memories. In recent years, she has thoroughly enjoyed her great-grandchildren. Her family was truly the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Joe Leach, Parents L.R. and Katherine Cross, Sisters Juanita Lee, and Darlene, Granddaughter Tiffany Erin Leach, and Great Grandson Ollie Blackstone Leach
She is survived by her Children, Mark Leach and wife Kathy, Marla Maresca. Grandchildren, Christopher Leach and wife Rae, Stephanie Cummings and husband Cagan, Shelby Pedigo and husband Westin, and Abigail Maresca and special friend Braden. Great Grandchildren, Sterling O’Brian Cummings, and Charli Jo Leach.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Santa Fe Terrace and Vital Caring Hospice for their loving care and support.
