Wayne Ray Dendy (Plainview)

Wayne Ray Dendy, 76, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024.  Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Petersburg Cemetery with Rev. Ted Wilson officiating.  Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Wayne was born on August 7, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas to Alton and Frances (Priddy) Dendy.  He grew up in Petersburg and was big into 4-H and livestock showing and equine.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was an heavy equipment operator and help build roads.  After serving his county, he returned home and attended Texas Tech.  Wayne was a true Cowboy and worked for various feedlots throughout the years.  He also worked with cutting horses in Weatherford.  Wayne owned and operated his own leather business in Muleshoe and made and repaired saddles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Bryan Freese.  Survivors include his sister, Margaret Freese of Plainview; niece, Donna Kay Burnett and husband Vondal; great nephew, Tyler Burnett and wife Kim and their children Kora & Kali; great niece, Rebecca Stephens and husband Brandon and their child, Bryan Stephens.
