Willa Ruth Simmons (Plainview)

Willa Ruth Glenn Simmons, 96, of Plainview passed away October 30, 2021. Graveside service will be Friday, November 5, at 1pm at Plainview Memorial Park with Lanny Voss officiating and Jacob Richburg assisting. There will be a family visitation from 4-6 pm on Thursday, November 5, at Kornerstone Funeral home.

Willa Ruth was born February 9, 1925, to James A. and Toledo Ohio (Willingham) Glenn in Plainview, TX. The family moved to Jackson County, Oklahoma in 1926 and then to Morton County, Kansas in 1935. Willa Ruth graduated from Elkhart (KS) High School in 1943 and married Harold Simmons later that year. The couple had two daughters Nancy and Glenda. Harold died in a car accident in 1952 while Willa Ruth was pregnant with their son Jim.

The family returned to Plainview in 1952 to be near her family. Willa Ruth retired from Security Land Title Company in Plainview. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital from 1968 until 2018. Willa Ruth was a member of College Heights Baptist Church where she volunteered in the office for many years.

Willa Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Larue Glenn, and her son in law, Thomas Richburg. She is survived by her children: Nancy Richburg of Plainview, Glenda and Stan Lancaster of Plainview and Jim Simmons of Austin, her grandchildren: Brent Richburg, Vicki (Richburg) Maloney, Kristi (Richburg) Poole, Jason Lancaster, James Simmons and Sarah Simmons, her great-grandchildren: David, Kacy and Jacob Richburg and her great-great-grandson: Charles Richburg.
