Carmen Cruz (Tulia)

-Tulia, Texas-Carmen Cruz, 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 5,2022 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A rosary will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home chapel.

Carmen was born on November 12, 1939 in Barry, Texas to Juan and Juanita Granado Ayala. She married Teodoro “Ted” Cruz in 1962 in Tulia and started their family of five children. She was a homemaker but also worked in the fields. She worked for Tulia ISD in the Cafeteria for 20 years. Carmen was known for making dozens of tamales and enchiladas and selling them all over the area. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit and a member of the Guadalupana's. She loved to work and never stopped, and her hobby was making her old fashion handmade quilts. She also loved family gatherings, bringing her family together is what she did best. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband; Ted Cruz of Tulia, five children; Alice Martinez and husband Lupe of Plainview, Joe Cruz and wife Heather of Plainview, Robert Cruz and wife Lena of Ft. Worth, Johnny Cruz and wife Cindy of Amarillo and Melisa Cruz of Tulia, her brothers, and sisters; Sabino Granado of Dallas, Eliseo Granado of Dallas, Lupe Ramirez of Lubbock, and Gessita Linda Ayala of Grand Prairie, 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
