Guadalupe B. Leal (Plainview)

Guadalupe B. Leal, 89, of Petersburg passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 2, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg, Texas. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the funeral home. Mr. Leal was born on November 18, 1934 in Robstown, Texas to Manuel & Margarita (Bosquez) Leal. He married Elvira Gonzales on January 12, 1963 in Floydada, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. Mr. Leal was a truck driver and retired from Robert Heath Trucking. He later worked for Hertz as a shuttle driver at Lubbock Preston Airport. He served in numerous rolls at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg including Church Council President. He was a member there from 1963 to the present. He was an honorary life time member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Leal was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8097, Lawrence J. Fitz Simmons Assembly #1101, Lubbock Diocese Catholic War Veterans #1942 and American Legion Post #575. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ruben Leal. Mr. Leal is survived by his wife, Elvira Leal of Petersburg; his children, Daniel Leal of Plainview, Lisa Sanchez & husband Emiterio of Petersburg and Roberto Leal of Petersburg; his granddaughters, Ashley Esqueda & husband Jeremy and Brianna Sanchez; one great grandson, Behren Banks Esqueda and his siblings, Manuel Leal, Robert Leal, Teresa Rios and Ramiro Leal.
