Nancy C. Hawkins Horn (Plainview)

Nancy C. Hawkins Horn, 70, of Petersburg, Texas passed away February 25, 2021. Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 1, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Petersburg.  Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. 

A visitation will be held 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Kornerstone. 

Nancy was born on October 1, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico to Gene and Louise Hawkins.  She attended Lockney High School and graduated from Seminole High School in 1969. She then attended and graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 1973.  Nancy married John Horn on March 22, 1975 in Lubbock.  She was a teacher for many years and retired from Petersburg ISD.  Her passion for kids and teaching resulted in her serving as a long-term substitute even after retirement.  Nancy also served her community of Petersburg serving as a member of the City Council.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Petersburg where she faithfully served by playing the Piano and Organ for many years.  Nancy loved her grandchildren, knitting, Dr. Pepper, bible study and was the ultimate prayer warrior.

Nancy was preceded in death by a son, Greg Horn and brother, Keith Hawkins.

She is survived by her husband John Horn of Petersburg; son, Jeff Horn of Petersburg; daughter, Katy Ratliff and Matt of New Braunfels; six grandchildren, Grant Horn, Gage Horn, Gavin Horn, Ella Ratliff, Jake Ratliff, Nolan Ratliff; and her parents, Gene and Louise Hawkins of Lubbock.

The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church Youth of Petersburg.
